Back From The Desert

For the past 6 years, Crossroads has partnered with Native Gospel Outreach, Faith Bible Church, and Nazlini Church of the Nazarene to serve the people of the Navajo Nation and proclaim the gospel on the reservation in Arizona. The reason I have not posted a blog in over a week is that where we were, there was literally no cell service, no internet connection, and, to our joy, very few distractions.

Here are some of the highlights of our time together among our Navajo friends:
-12 hours roundtrip from Phoenix singing Petra, Gavin DeGraw, and Hillsongs United
-Listening to my 5 year old preach the gospel to a van full of Navajo children
-Hiking 3 miles into Canyon DeChelly National Park
-Finding a pile of real arrowheads at an old ruin
-Seeing ancient cave paintings, untouched for hundreds of years
-Being invited into Navajo homes to pray for the sick
-Strengthening the relationships we have established with Tribal leaders and elders
-Being able to spend a week with my wife and son doing missions for Christ
-Standing in a snow storm 1,000 feet above the Nazlini river looking at a cliff dwelling
-Climbing to the top of the Nazlini canyon with my son & singing praise songs to Jesus
-Seeing our missions director Justin Brock lead our team with excellence
-Debating / discussing Calvinism and Arminianism for 2 hours one night with the team
-Eating an authentic Navajo hot tamale (good + hot)

If you are interested in serving the Navajo people on a future Crossroads trip, call our office and speak with Justin

Glad to hear about your trip. Nothing good seems to ever come from those debates except for an agreement to disagree!

our election / free will debate was lively, interesting, long, and exciting. Maybe I should blog about it, that would be a fun discussion that would generate some heat, and maybe even some light.

I wish I could have gone this year, but it seems like a lot was accomplished and many lives were blessed!! I’m so glad that it went well!

That would make for a fun discussion on your blog. I think it would make for a great blog idea that I’m sure would ruffle some feathers. On a serious note though, I think it does affect how evangelists and pastors present the gospel and that, I think, makes it a worthwhile discussion to have.
