Our Best Summer Ever?
“Praise to The Lord, The Almighty, The King of creation,Oh, my soul praise Him for He is my help and salvation!”
The lyrics to this old hymn rightly describe how we all feel at Crossroads today. We wrapped up camp yesterday, and because of God’s grace and the prayers of friends and supporters like you, it was, without a doubt, the best summer camp we have ever held. Here a few highlights…
*Over 200 students responded to the gospel, repenting of their sins and trusting Christ as their Savior*Roughly 250 students surrendered to ministry, indicating they felt the call of God for Kingdom work*Over $30,000 was given by students to missions around the world, specifically in India*2,800 students, adults, staff, teachers, preachers, and musicians made this a phenomenal summer for Christ Crossroads Summer camps began in 1996, and it was essentially me running the show with help from some college friends. I answered all the phone calls, made copies of registration forms at a local gas station, and not only preached every service, but also led worship with my 2 bands, Monogamous Fish or Adam’s Housecat. Now, with the help of Matt Orth, Jeremy Berger, Jeff and Brittney Becker, and Justin Brock, all I have to do is preach and build relationships with kids and youth pastors during camp. It is such a joy to be a part of such a healthy ministry, and an even greater joy to see people moved by God’s spirit, and to see them respond to His voice when He speaks. I have the best job in the world. I can’t believe I get to do this!
The next big Crossroads event that we need you to pray for is our Crossroads Winter Conferences (one for students and one for college/young adults).Gatlinburg, TNJanuary 16-19, 2009Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday WeekendThis will be our 11th year, so plan to join us that weekend and bring as many people with you as you can squeeze into your vehicle.

And finally, pray for me, my wife Charie, Brent Sears and Justin Brock as we leave early Monday morning for Malaysia. I will be speaking in some churches, teaching at a large student conference, and hopefully visiting the tallest building in the world in Kuala Lumpur (I shall not attempt to skydive from said building). I hope to be able to blog while we are on the trip, I am sure there will be much to share!

Hi Clayton, by the time you read this you will have been on your trip to Malaysia. I pray that you will be rested and refreshed as you can be and that God will use you in a might way. I pray that many will come to saving faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Say hi to my friend Brent (tell him he has a great name, by the way).
I believe that this year was the best ever from our experience. God really used the “Death to Apathy” message you delivered as a catalyst for an awesome group time. I pray that this and other things God taught us during the week will grow roots and we will be like the man in Psalms 1, really plugged into God’s power and not swayed by the world around us.

Clayton. Our team arrived here in KL on Sunday and have hit the ground running. We are looking forward to seeing you guys soon! God is up to some pretty awesome things here in KL!

Wow God has really been moving in my life since Crossroads. Not only did i accept the call to ministry, as you know, And my aplication for the India Trip. But i met a man named John Gilman Jr. His father was the founder of “Dayspring International,” a missions organization in India.(you can look them up for more detail). Anyways they are partnered with Operation Mobilization Ships, who’s land base recently moved to Florence. With that being said, my family has been looking for a new house here in Florence, and was just about to sign on to a house when my dad received an Email from…John Gilman Jr. saying that his house is up for rent and are we interested. Well this was before i met him so we were only looking at the house. However Today (August 5) I was eating lunch at Moe’s with Matt Walton talking about my calling and how things are going when, sure enough, in walks John Gilman Jr. so i had the chance to meet him, and he shared all of this with me about his dad and how he goes to India, when he said that if I needed anything as far as advise or really anything just let him know.

I am moving into the house of a Missionary to India ,of all places, and I conveniently met him at the same restaurant on the same day i was talking to Matt about my calling and the Prep. for the Mission trip i might be taking to India with Crossroads. I think it’s safe to say that God had something to do with all of this.
