Clayton, I don’t have any to add. But, I am reading one of the books on your list “The Normal Christian Life”, and God is using it to change my life. This summer I read the “Cost of Discipleship” (another of the books you posted) and tried to apply the idea that “When Christ calls a man he bids him come and die”, now reading “The Normal Christian Life” it is like the backside of the same coin. Watchman Nee (or Rom. 5 & 6) tells us that we have identified with Christ in his death. The two have complimented each other to help me to understand my identity with Christ in death through faith as opposed to trying to attain the likeness of his death. Awesome books !!!

I would add: What’s So Amazing About Grace by Philip Yancy and The Bible Jesus Read by the same author.

Thanks for the list. I’ve only read a handful on your list, so I’ll look into some of those.
I’d add:
The Irresistible Revolution - Shane Claiborne
The Gospel according to Moses: What My Jewish Friends Taught Me about Jesus - Athol Dickinson
The 7 Practices of Effective Ministry - Andy Stanley
And more on leadership books:
Next Gen Leader - Andy Stanley
Courageous Leadership - Bill Hybels

I absolutely love Lesslie Newbigin. His books (I think I’ve read most of them now) changed my entire outlook on the Christian faith, missions & personal faithfulness. He’s great! And these other books look great as well. You ought to check out my recent post regarding my classes for this semester…you’d love the C.S. Lewis Class.
Peace & Grace,

You left out Narnia?! Must have just missed them. I would agree with previuous posts and expand that just about everything by Phillip Yancey or Andy Stanley is worth a read. I’d include John Ortburg and Donald Miller on that list as well. CHASING DAYLIGHT by Erwin McManus is also good. And I just finished UNCHRISTIAN by David Kinnaman….which I’d highly recommend…..

How about adding Ravi Zacharias–Can Man Live without God?
